Advantages of Studying in China 1. Students can come and stay on the campus at Beijing Jiaotong University and do short 21 day course or longer 18 week Semester. The option study for two Semesters is available and start dates of the courses are listed on this website for 2009. The Chinese Language Proficiency Test is called HSK Exam, and it is very similar to the structure and format of an IELTS or TOEFL Course. Beginner Level students learn 1,000 words, then Intermediate Level is 2,000 words and Advanced is 3,500 words. Take your time, just come over to China try a little bit of Chinese, then you can choose what level you want to study at. 4. Studypath has HSK Mandarin Chinese lessons online e-learning format, so students can self study at home and get a taste of what it is like to study Chinese. 5. The secret to learning Mandarin is that each word can be pronounced in four different Tones giving the word a different meaning. So the Courses are designed to help students learn how to pronounce and memorise the tones. 6. The key to learning to write in Chinese is to use Pinyin which is using English alphabet to spell sounds of Chinese words. 7. Then once students have learned Pinyin, they can practice drawing the Chinese characters. Each character has a structure and form and students learn the art and science behind Chinese characters and how to read and write. 8. Not every student wants to be fluent in Mandarin, but a quarter of the world is Chinese, so come over to Beijing for a short 21 day course, learn how your global neighbours live and think. It is a great experience to see Beijing and to see other amazing cities from the ultra modern Shanghai to the ancient cities of Xian where the Terracota Warriors were discovered. 9. Students are awarded a Certificate from Beijing Jiaotong after they complete their course and if a student wants to sit the independent HSK Exam, we can arrange this. 10. There are 22,000 Chinese students at Beijing Jiaotong University and also international students from 64 countries, including students from Russia, Korea, Spain, Holland, America, Britain and Australia. So if you like meeting people you will enjoy Beijing Jiaotong University. 11. Students who want to do a degree or Masters program in a Chinese university, must have passed HSK Level 4. 12.
