China is the most populous nation in the world, exceeding 1.3 billion people. It is also one of the world's oldest civilizations with the longest continuously used written language.
The Chinese minor builds on fluency in Standard Mandarin and offers a strong understanding of the culture and history of China. Four courses are required for the minor and it is available to all students.
Studying Chinese at Bryant
The Chinese minor is designed to provide students with an advanced level of language proficiency in Standard Mandarin and a solid foundation for the development of cultural understanding and communication skills across a broad array of social contexts and settings in China.
The required courses provide students with the necessary tools to become effective and creative communicators. The Chinese Minor also prepares students to live, study, and work in China and to take advantage of the steadily growing international market for professionals in all fields who have a background in Chinese language and culture.
In addition, the U.S.—China Institute offers the China Speaker Series, special cultural events, and study abroad programs to complement the academic components of the minor.

In addition to proven proficiency in Mandarin, four courses (12 credits) are required to complete the minor. Required courses include:
