C2028 - CHINESE MANDARIN BEGINNERS 1 About This Course - Every term, Central TAFE offers short courses in languages for beginners through to advanced.  Classes primarily emphasise speaking and listening skills and focus on the development of practical competence in a variety of everyday situations.  Students are given every opportunity to develop their confidence and skills by participating in pair and group activities.  Course facilitators are generally native speakers of the language taught.This course is a general introduction to the language, its sound and writing system and some general information on the countries in which it is spoken.  On completion of the course, students can expect to be able to communicate on a basic level in some everyday situations.

C2023 - CHINESE CANTONESE BEGINNERS 1 About This Course - Every term, Central TAFE offers short courses in Chinese (Cantonese) language for beginners through to advanced.  Classes primarily emphasise speaking and listening skills and focus on the development of practical competence in a variety of everyday situations.  Students are given every opportunity to develop their confidence and skills by participating in pair and group activities.  Course facilitators are generally native speakers of the language taught.

This course is a general introduction to the language, its sound and writing system and some general information on the countries in which it is spoken. On completion of the course, students can expect to be able to communicate on a basic level in some everyday situations.At the end of the course, students will be able to: * understand the Romanisation system of the Cantonese language, and * use the language to - greet people, say thank you and/or apologise, introduce oneself and others, count from 1 – 100, ask and tell the time, ask and tell prices. Note* Wherever possible, the course is tailored to meet the needs and interests of the group. Therefore, some variations to course content may occur.
