Saturday Classes (as Advertised in The Denver Post)
The Confucius Institute at CCD offers eight-week non-credit classes open to the public. Classes are held on Saturdays, with a maximum 15 students per class. Classes will be held on the Auraria Campus, in downtown Denver.
Session 1: Saturdays, January 24 — March 14
Session 2: Saturdays, March 21 — May 16 (no class March 28)
Session 3: Saturdays, May 23 — July 18
Session 4: Saturdays, July 25 — Sept. 12
Session 5: Saturdays, Sept. 19 — Nov. 7
Tai Chi
Tai Chi is a form of traditional Chinese martial arts. Today, Tai Chi is emphasized for its health benefits. In this class, you will learn Tai Chi movements and forms in sequence with clear, step-by-step instruction.
Instructor: Daryi Deng is a professor at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Professor Deng has practiced Tai Chi for more than thirty years.
When: Saturdays, 2:45 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. Cost: $98.00
Chinese Painting
Study the basic elements of Chinese painting while you learn to appreciate the traditional ancient style of this art. You will learn to paint plants, birds, and fish with brush, water and ink. Level 2 students will learn to paint with more difficulty while promoting their painting skills and artistic appreciation.
Instructor: Xin Zhang is an experienced art teacher and a senior member of the Chinese Painting Research Institute. He was a student of Shijian Zhang, the famous artist of Arts and Crafts Academy, and has exhibited his works all around the world.
When: Level I: Saturdays, 12:10 p.m. – 1:45 p.m.
Level 2: Saturdays, 10:30 a.m. – Noon Cost: $98.00
Chinese Language & Culture for Travel
This class will teach you basic phrases in daily conversation in the Chinese language, perfect for travel in China.
Instructor: Xiaoli He is an exchange Associate Professor from Chongqing Three Gorges University. Ms. He is certified by Hanban, the Chinese Language Council International Beijing as a qualified Chinese language instructor.
When: Saturdays, 10 a.m. – Noon Cost: $160.00
Chinese Language for Business
This class will teach you language skills to help you negotiate basic business in China, including language skills for attending business meetings, discussing projects, getting acquainted and negotiate prices.
