UCLan Confucius Institute is a testament to the University of Central Lancashire's commitment to the teaching of Chinese language and culture.
Located on the 3rd floor of Fylde Building, Fylde Road, the Confucius Institute contains a reference library housing over 3,000 volumes. Whether you are interested in Chinese language or Chinese culture, this resource centre can help you to further your knowledge and interests.
Alongside UCLan’s Combined Honours Chinese and Business Management in China BA(Hons), the Confucius Institute offers Chinese language taster lessons, culture workshops, and teachers conferences.

The Confucius Institute at UCLan aims to:
Promote the teaching of Chinese language and culture in UK schools, by working closely with schools in the region
Hold regular teacher conferences & workshops offering valuable support to teachers, and potential teachers, of Chinese
Be a valuable source of information to teachers, businesses, government, and the general public
Promote the understanding of Chinese culture, through activities and events
Besides degree courses [see separate University of Central Lancashire listing] UNLan Confucius Institute also offers Chinese courses to the general public:
UCLan Confucius Institute is able to help you to learn about Chinese language and culture.
For example, have you always wanted to attend a few language lessons but don’t have the time to attend a university course? Well, now you can attend classes at the Confucius Institute. You can attend a two hour class each week, or alternatively attend one-to-one lessons to suit your learning needs, easily fitting in with your busy lifestyle.
During classes you will learn about Chinese culture as you learn the language, and will soon be on your way to fulfilling your dream of speaking Chinese.
Classes available include:
Chinese for Beginners
Intermediate Chinese
Chinese for A’ level
Advanced Mandarin for Cantonese Speakers
