Mandarin for Future Mandarin Teachers (MFMT)
The Confucius Institute at China Institute (CI@CI) created the Mandarin for Future Mandarin Teachers (MFMT) program and, manages it in partnership with East China Normal University (ECNU) in Shanghai, China. ECNU is one of China’s premier educator training institutions, with over 40,000 students and 3,000 students from over 40 countries around the world. The program is designed to enable native or near-native K-12 Mandarin-speaking teachers, particularly those who are already certified to teach other subject areas, earn credits from the New York State Education Department (NYSED) toward teaching Mandarin Chinese in New York public schools, or in schools of other states that have a reciprocity agreement with New York. The MFMT program is designed with direct reference to the NSYED certification requirements so that participants can have the best chance to earn their language teaching certification as quickly, efficiently, and effectively as possible. This is an intensive six-week program, with six to seven class hours per day conducted entirely in Mandarin Chinese. The program is very flexible; teachers can complete one, two, or three summers, up to a full Master's degree in Chinese Applied Linguistics, if needed or desired for certification. The Master's degree is offered by , under its International College of Chinese Studies Graduate School. 212.744.8181 125 East 65th Street New York, New York NY 10065 United States Fax Fax: 212-628-4159 Phone Phone: 212.744.8181 Tuition charges Tuition fees: Please check website for details.
