CHI 1120 Beginning Chinese I — 4 Credit Hours This beginning course consists of the fundamentals of Chinese speech and grammar taught by integrating the basic communication skills of hearing and understanding, speaking, reading and writing. Five contact hours: four lecture hours, one laboratory hour (unsupervised). A.A. CHI 1121 Beginning Chinese II — 4 Credit Hours Prerequisite: CHI 1120. This course is a continuation of Beginning Chinese I. Five contact hours: four lecture hours, one laboratory hour (unsupervised). A.A. CHI 2200 Chinese III - Intermediate Chinese — 3 Credit Hours Prerequisites: CHI 1120 and CHI 1121. This course is an intermediate course in Mandarin Chinese to develop and improve audio-lingual skills and reading and writing ability. Three-hour class instruction and two-hour language laboratory. Four contact hours: three lecture hours, one laboratory hour. A.A. CHI 2201 Chinese IV - Practice in Mandarin Chinese — 3 Credit Hours Prerequisite: CHI 2200. This course is practice in Mandarin Chinese reading comprehension and composition. Intensive exercises in character writing will be required to develop writing technique.
