 Los Medanos College World Languages-- Chinese
A communicative approach is used to teach two beginning level 5-unit Transfer Level Chinese courses offered at LMC: Chinese 30 Elementary Chinese I, and Chinese 40 Elementary Chinese II. The courses are designed in sequence for the transfer bound student. Students learn grammar and syntax of the Mandarin Chinese language and the language skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing with an emphasis on production. Culture is interwoven into each course highlighting the uniqueness of various Chinese-speaking countries, their people and the culture of Chinese speakers in the United States. The courses are offered evenings on site in Pittsburg.
The independent study 98 Independent Study in Chinese and Chinese 99 Cooperative Education in Chinese offer students the opportunity to design and pursue their own interests in a particular area or work under agreement of an employer and a faculty member in a supervised cooperative education project.
