Ming-Der Chinese School

Ming-Der Chinese School

Ming-Der Chinese School

The phrase Ming-Der originates from "the Great Learning"; first book of the famous collection of the four books, written by Confucious.
Ming-Der means to illustrate morality and virtue, to know of right and wrong. Its meaning is significant to our students, as we promote not only high standards of academic education, but an all round sense of greater learning.
Ming-Der Chinese School is registered as a charitable, non-profit Chinese community language school. The school operates in six separate locations around the Western Sydney, with more than 798 students in a total of 52 classes from Kindergarten to Year Twelve.
This school is one of the largest Chinese schools in Sydney. It has a firm reputation for teaching the Chinese language and in promoting the Chinese culture and traditions.
Our Aims
  • To teach the morals and principles of traditional Chinese culture found in ancient and contemporary Chinese literature.
  • To promote the dissemination of Chinese culture into modern Australian society.
  • To maintain an awareness among Australian-born Chinese of their cultural heritage through the teaching of the Chinese language and culture.
Our teachers are all qualified teachers of Mandarin. Their qualifications have been approved by the NSW Department of Education.
Our curriculum consists of teaching traditional Chinese characters. Beginners will use texts from Taiwan as well as resources compiled by our own teachers. Primary school students learn to write basic compositions. They will learn to use the Chinese dictionary. In order to adhere to the NSW Board of Studies curriculum, students will learn Hanyu Ping Yin from grade three and are introduced to simplified characters. In high school, students will further develop their conversational and dialogue skills. They learn Chinese expressions and further develop their essay writing skills.
