(二) Expansion of Education (三) Politics Draft We would examine the government's politics about the development of Hakka on a general basis and also provide practical suggestions as to Hakka's long-term development. We intend to become a service center which provides specialized advises on Hakka issues by means of academic research and evaluation. To substantiate the aforementioned purposes, we'd been holding the following activities in the recent 3 years: the seminar of Hakka folk culture, the 4th International Hakka studies Conference, the Hakka seminar, the symposium of Hakka Studies at Year 2000, the Panel Discussion of Ethnic Relation and Local Development, the Camp of Taiwan Hakka Literature, the Workshop of Preparing Teachers for Teaching Hakka as a MotherTongue, the Seminar of Hakka Culture Broadcasting, Teaching Hakka, and the Field Studies of Hakka. In the future, we would like to coordinate the research resources of various projects, and improve the level of Hakka studies. As our research results are accumulated to a certain extent, we would found a graduate program of Hakka Studies, and then a Hakka Department.
