 Norwood Chinese School Welcome to Norwood Chinese School! Norwood Chinese Education Association is the first registered private Chinese school in Edmonton. The school's curriculum is based on Alberta Education's curriculum. When the students have completed their high school courses, they will receive 15 credits toward their high school diploma. Our Mission: to inherit, propagate and enrich the traditional Chinese culture, which composed of its unique language, character, history, science and cultural activities, around our communities. The students that attend Norwood Chinese School are not only learning how to write and read the Chinese Language, they also learned about Chinese culture; how to be respectful to parents, elders and their counterparts. They learn about behaviour, social skills and how to promote proper etiquette and manners.  Norwood Chinese School offers both Cantonese and Mandarin Programs. Classes are from kindergarten to Grade 12. The enrolment numbers has soared over 300 students since 2008. With the support from the members of Norwood Chinese Education Association, teachers and staff, students, parents and alumni in the past 26 years, students have been enjoying tremendous success in their Chinese Language education. Norwood Chinese School is a member of the Alberta Education's Chinese Language Education Consortium. Through participation in all kind of activities and meetings, the school obtain valuable insight from other schools and organizations regarding how to run a successful program. From past experiences, the part-time weekend Chinese school students cannot maximize learning without the support and help of their parents. Whatever students learned from the weekend school, they need to apply to their daily lives. It is necessary for the students to take advantage of every opportunity to use the Chinese Language in order to build up their foundation. Norwood Chinese School is very proud of the success of their students. The school would like to thank all their supportive parents! The school provides each teacher with a set of standard learning material which includes textbook, exercise book, varieties of interact activities and multi-media supplies. The teachers are either degree holders in Education or experience educators. The teachers follow Alberta Education curriculum guides to design their lesson plans and teach. Teachers demonstrate excellent classroom planning, management and instructional skills. The result is shown in the student success reports.
