![]() Sheffield Hallam University - Languages All of our students can study a language as part of the University Language Scheme. Although the University Language Scheme is not a qualification in its own right, you can study a language as part of many of our undergraduate degrees. Or you can study various languages part-time to meet your personal or business needs.
We offer five languages • French • German • Spanish Italian • Japanese • Chinese.
Learning a language
• adds variety and fun to your study • prepares you for a work or study placement abroad • improves your employment prospects You can study a language you have learned previously or start a new one.
You do not have to be an expert linguist – we offer six stages from beginners to advanced. When you enrol on a language module we put you in a stage suited to your ability.
You can also study languages with business options as an integrated degree. The courses include a study placement in a foreign university and a year’s work placement in Europe.
We offer several courses with languages as an integral part of the main theme
• BA (Honours) Languages with International Business Studies • BA (Honours) Languages with Marketing • BA (Honours) Languages with Tourism Enrolment
Most courses have optional modules. If you decide to take a language option, you normally choose this option on the module choice form for your course. You agree this with your tutor and then you will either be sent a registration form for your language module or you will attend an enrolment session in our language centre. These take place in induction week.
