Entry requirements:You should check the level of this course to see if it matches your ability. This course is for students who have completed Chinese 1: module 1 & module 2 or equivalent (30-50 learning hours or equivalent).Click here to view a languages self-assessment chart. Initial assessment on the first day of the course.
Course content:Learn to speak Chinese-Mandarin on this lively, communicative course for complete beginners. Taught in Chinese with emphasis on developing your listening and speaking skills. Based on units 21-30 of Chinese in Steps 3
By the end of the course students should be able to:
- pass on a telephone message
- describe an action with adverbial and describe a picture
- invite sb. to do sth.
- report a lost property
- reserve a room
- pick up sb. in an airport
- talk about weather
-recognise Chinese characters (up to 450)
-be familiar with basic Radicals, structures and types of Chinese characters
Course Structure:Classes typically have about 15-20 students. You may work in groups, in pairs or individually and need to complete homework outside the class. There is an emphasis on student participation in activities. Communicative, functional approach with emphasis on speaking and listening and comprehension activities with audio-visual methods.
Course resources:You will have access to the Learning Centre in You will have access to the Learning Centre in Wandsworth and Tooting. This includes the use of computers, audio-visual equipment and at Wandsworth, our language laboratory
