 Tower Hamlets Chinese School The Chinese School currently has a total of 16 classes providing learning opportunities in Chinese language for children from Playgroup to GCSE levels. We have received four outstanding reports throughout the last school terms of 2008/09 from the monitoring officer of the Community Language department of Tower Hamlets council. English classes are also available for adult residents of Tower Hamlets. Over the past year, more than two hundred students attended our school to learn either Cantonese or Mandarin which has clearly demonstrated the popularity of the school. There is a high attendance rate by students with usually more than 90% attendance throughout the year. Students have been improving communication with the non-English speaking members of their family through learning how to write, listen, read and speak in Cantonese or Mandarin. Regular tests and 2 exams take place throughout the school terms to monitor their progress. The students' measure of achievement/attainment includes test, exam results and attendance are monitored by their form tutor and to be recorded in the academic report that will contribute towards their personal and academic achievement at the end of the school term.
