4 hours. Principal emphasis is on writing and reading for students who have some knowledge of Mandarin or other Chinese dialect. Credit is not given for CHIN 111 if student has credit in CHIN 101 or CHIN 102. Requires two additional hours each week in the language laboratory. Prerequisite(s): Appropriate score on the department placement test. Recommended background: Familiarity with a Chinese dialect (speaking and listening). 112 Chinese for Students from Chinese Background II
