![]() Wisconsin Lutheran College - Chinese Choose the WLC China studies program.
China is the world's most populous country. It is a world player economically, and its influence on the U.S. economy is increasing every year. The Chinese language is becoming increasingly important in world business and diplomacy. Chinese characters have a history stretching back over two thousand years, and they influenced Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese language and culture. As China opens up to the world, westerners who are familiar with the Chinese language and culture will be prepared to seize these 21st century cross-cultural opportunities. The purpose of the WLC China studies program is to prepare students to do just that.
WLC's China studies program offers the following opportunities for its students:
Eight semesters of Mandarin Chinese language instruction with a qualified instructor and native Chinese tutors for individualized practice. View course descriptions.
Study abroad opportunities in China.
Opportunities to make friendships and participate in Chinese worship and cultural events with the nearby Chinese Lutheran congregation at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.
This program works well with Wisconsin Lutheran's B.A. in management and marketing or B.S. in business administration. The B.A. and B.S. in business administration, when combined with the Mandarin language courses and an internship, will prepare you to work in the international and Chinese business worlds.
An opportunity to do all of the above while still completing your college program in four years and without significantly increased costs.
Opportunities to teach English at high schools and universities in China after graduation.
